Reporting a Potentiallly Unsafe Driver. You can request that your state DMV review a family member's, or friend's, driving qualifications. In a letter to the local DMV Driver Safety Office, identify the driver you are concerned about, giving your reason(s) for making the report, and your relationship to the driver. You may ask that your name be kept confidential, but some states will not accept the report if you refuse to provide your name as well. Concerned Americans For Responsible Driving (CARD) in Missouri is active in the area of reporting and re-testing impaired drivers. CARD's founders crafted a bill designed to keep impaired persons out of the driver's seat. By not targeting older drivers, but rather all impaired drivers, the bill won AARP support and passed into law in 1999. Missouri House Bill 1536 allows those closest to a possibly unfit driver to report the person's condition confidentially. http://www.drivingsafe.org/
