Kansas City's KCPT To Air First Town Hall Meeting on Caregiving

July 21, 2003
The first And Thou Shalt Honor Town Hall Meeting on Caregiving will be videotaped Tuesday, August 26 between 9AM and 12:30PM in Kansas City.

Invited participants include Gail Gibson Hunt, Executive Director of the National Caregiving Alliance; Dr. Bill Thomas, founder of the Eden Alternative; Josefina Carbonell, Assistant Secretary for Aging at HHS, and Senator Kit Bond (R-Mo.). Hunt and Dr. Thomas have already accepted.

Nick Haines, Executive Producer at KCPT for News and Public Affairs, will be the Moderator of the program. The opening sequence will be videotaped at the Harry Truman Presidential Library in Independence because President Truman was the first president to call for a national healthcare policy for the United States.

The one-hour broadcast will air on KCPT, Kansas City, on September 25 at 8PM, supported by phone banks that will extend into the evening after the broadcast.

The project has been organized by Myra Christopher, President and CEO of Midwest Bioethics Center, who with her Volunteer Board Chair, Mary Kay McPhee, formed the Kansas City Caregiving Partnership in Greater Kansas City to secure funds and coalitions.

The partnership will continue to use the program for subsequent broadcasts in Kansas City.
